Open sesame: South Philly outpost serves solid Mediterranean food at magically affordable prices - Contributor
In Short
Two doors lead to Bitar's. One opens into the dining area, where customers place orders and eat along a counter or at high tables. The second entrance goes to a tiny Mediterranean market selling dried apricots, candied chickpeas, pomegranate syrup and Persian cold wax. Bitar's sandwiches come rolled in a pita, including the Angelo Cataldi, a flavorful combination of marinated string cheese, roasted pepper spread and grilled chicken.
